The Blood Era: PrologueIt seemed as if all stars had simply died from the night sky. A complete darkness swept the forest and pulled it in, as if spiraling into a deep abyss. Icy crystal eyes stared at the morphed hand-like paws and crimson blood weeped from curved claws.
"It had to be done," a voice whispered. "There was no other choice... she had to die."
Hearts pounded like drums, filling the silence among the woods.
"The natural laws have been forsaken. This bloodshed will mark a dive into an unforgotten era. Dark ages are rising, and this very well may be my own failing. Had I protected the lives lost... so long ago..."
Glittering flakes of snow burned through the black.
"I will send one of our kind in pure hope to save us. May silver mark the fur of our savior.." the mere voice faded within echoes, "And if she can't realize our bloody path, may she drown in the lies of the world, a cruel world never to end."

A Bloody, Stupid Miracle The day we’d cured the human condition was the day I put a bullet through my head and didn’t die. It was also the day I realized how scared I actually was of death, and after hours of muscle ache from holding that gauze against my open skull, after the wound closed and everything went back to normal, I had myself a good old-fashioned brainstorm. How ironic.
But when summer came, everything had fallen to shit. The air scorched my skin and parched my tongue every time I took a breath. The sun glared down on a rapidly-collapsing world, full of the undying bastard children of cruelty and misfortune. What was one to do when their cells regenerated faster than they decomposed?
